I have been experimenting for the past few weeks trying to find some balance and energy and to figure out exactly what my body is likes. I have been researching and looking at the benefits of different products. I have learned a lot. While I’m not an expert in cosmetology, or diets, I’m doing my best to run things by my doctor before trying it and keeping it on the spectrum of sanity.
I have every intention to throw insanity ( the work out DVD that is… not losing my mind..) into the mix, but for now I’m just jogging and doing the stationary bikes at the gym ( for the days that my right ankle hates me) I’ve had tons more energy and all that jazz… I feel better. My only task now is to get my sleep patterns under control. ( it’s 3:30 in the morning)
But this is about my hair. I haven’t seen my hair in about 2 weeks because its in braids, but i have been getting a lot of questions via email and comments on my Ovation blogs. I wrote them a year ago, so there are things that I used to use that I no longer use and there are things that i used to do that I no longer do. I wrote about some of the products i was using back in january and while I’m still using most of those products, I’ve added a few new ones into the mix.
Pantene is OUT. I used it for a long time, but I discovered Giovanni. and while and 8.5 ounce bottle is the same price as one of those HUGE bottles of Pantene, I just liked that it has less chemicals in it. I still make my own deep conditioner. Infusium has been replaced by Giovanni’s direct leave in and Kinky Curly knot today. both are 7.99 and 11.99 respectively. Not too bad and there are ways to stretch them out.
Garnier Fructis is out. while i love the smell I like Giovanni’s products better. I have also seen better results.. my braids haven’t been in for two weeks and i already had to tighten my edges…
I still use Ovation ( the new formula because the old formula has parabens in it.)
(side note: I have been taking biotin supplements and drinking tons and tons of water. about 2 liters a day. So i’m super hydrated and super happy.)
Hair products are sort of like my crack-cocaine if u will…. I know i’ve spend at least $500 in the past 3 months. While I don’t recommend anyone spend that kind of money on the foolishness that i have purchased, it is a good idea to figure out what works for u… I’ll probablly end up giving some of this stuff to my bestie or my little sister, but for now.. i’m enjoying being a hair junkie.
