A Guide to making your hair look fuller

I would say my biggest struggle with my hair is how fine it is. It is easily heat damaged. It frizzes up easily and it breaks easily. However fine hair is the hand I have been dealt. There is nothing you can do to thicken your strands. They are what you have.. accept them.

On that note. I have figured out ways to make my hair denser ( not the strand.. but my head of hair) and also helped it to appear to be more full and to have more body. So Here are my tricks.

I like to use leave -ins with a thicker consistency, seal with a butter or castor oil and then brush all my hair into a pony tail at the top of my head ( or several smaller sections brushed upward depending on your length). When you let the stretched sections down it stays lifted at the roots which helps to add addition volume to your styles.

I use oils that help reduce shedding. Garlic, Lavender, Rosemary, and Almond oils are all great for that. Tea Rinses with teas that have high caffeine content also help with shedding. The less your hair sheds the more hair you have on your head making it denser and thus appearing to be thicker.

Always plan for the way you want you hair to fall. If I want a bang then I will twist or braid my hair forward. If I want a side swept bang, I will braid or twist it in the opposite direction than I want it to fall. I ways have a braid or twist across my head from ear to ear in order to add volume in that area.

If you have fine hair… flat twist outs tend to work better. and free braids work better than cornrow braid outs.

I like my ends to curl so I add cold rods or rollers to the ends. you don’t have to… i just like the way it looks.

even with preparation for styles and how you want your hair to be shaped… be prepared for it to fail miserably… bobby pins are a natural girl’s best friend. buy a ton.

I’m sure that there are a million more tips floating around out there.
